Edward Square, Galway

A vibrant residential hub...

A long abandoned area that hosted carparks and a series of ramshackle warehousing lay adjacent to Galway’s main shopping thoroughfare, when acquired by Edward in 1996. The group created a new retail destination that answered the demand of both retailers, who had been stymied by the small footprints of premises in the medieval core, and shoppers alike who had to travel further afield for their retail requirements. Edward Square went some way to addressing this retail drain from the city. A new contemporary retail precinct played host to national and international tenants, while a vibrant residential hub put people back in the heart of the city.
